How quickly you were forgotten
My sacrifice was not made

A glowing angel standing on
a balcony sealed your fate

You were life all encompassing
But that was then

A woman like you deserves one
who will cherish your sweet name
over even his very own

I, alas, am at the mercy of
a power greater than I can withstand
The power of first sight and the
emotions that wash over me when
my eyes feast upon the other

Please know that the pain bestowed
upon your head was not placed there
to be your crown of thorns
For the best is a statement made by many
but with none of the conviction
with which I utter it now

All people must be with the one
they realize makes them whole
For leading you down that path of
untruth I do not deserve what
I currently have

When two star crossed lovers must
let go of the past there
are broken dreams and broken promises
and understand that it was kismet
at it's most cruel for hurting you
