When I say I Love You

by Charles M Harrison

When I say I love you
it is so you can see.
What I feel inside for you
that burns inside of me.
It is to say to the world
without you I'm not whole.
That you are the best half
of my heart and soul.
When I say I love you
to me it means so much
You have reached a part of me
that no one else can touch.
Don't think the words come easy
or that it is said in jest.
You don't have to wonder
or put me to a test.
When I say I love you
know the words are true.
I would be an empty shell,
lost forever without you.
