Prostitution Of My Soul

by Anne Engelen

Prostitution of my soul
for a handful of smiles
and some hugs beyond the miles

Line after line entering my heart
All that time, playing me real smart

Precisely disarming me
of my self-protecting ways
unveiling my soul, stripping her down
to an unknown nudity

That's how I surrendered myself completely
to the man you pretended to be

Blind to see that you were only playing me

So much can happen in so little time. Isn't forgivness a great thing? Don't know what I would do without it.
