Prevention of Progress by Chris D LavigneStaring out an open window with an open mind
A cold night air chills me
I sit frozen, hesitant, holding back
from what I do not know
Is there a difference between isolation and solitude
they are both the same to me
One must bear through the darkness to find the light
Ever elusive, always in hiding
The window closes, becoming a mirror
Causing me to stare at myself, but not knowing what I see
a mirror image or a true reflection
How to tell the difference becomes the question
Both are correct, yet only one is desired
I must see through the image and into the mind
which is the key to unlocking what the future holds
Holding back however keeps the future at bay
Forcing me to remain in the present
And my future visions fade away with the sands of time
With wolves at my door waiting to devour what remains of me
The time will come when my decisions can be made
But it seems that I'm forever waiting
holding the wolves at bay
Realizing that prevention is what holds off progress
Maybe prevention isn't the best cure
just another symptom of the disease
