Ain't Life Grand? by Jersey D GibsonI was sad, when you told me you were sleeping around,
wouldn't be better if you slammed my head to the ground,
My emotions have been mobbed,
for your love, I've been robbed,
now I'm stuck with a new loneliness that I've found.
I was always eager when you said to me, "Let's go",
but you always were a boat load of trouble in tow,
Acting like a picadilly,
with no personality,
and now I have nothing left for an ego.
And I'm waiting for the new day to dawn,
figuring it out, was I right, or was I wrong?
Tripping in my head,
all the crap I was fed,
counting all the seconds in the day, and it seems long.
I still feel the pain in my face when I got a slap,
I wandered around, now I need to find my life with a map,
I knew that you lied to me,
so I see what you want me to see,
flushing me down the toilet, like I came from the tap.
I never claimed to have a lot of intelligence,
but I do know when something doesn't make sense,
Your love for me was flop,
it was me that you dropped,
now your talking about me in the past tense.
My life seems better now that I've got a new girl,
seeing you still makes my blood want to curl,
My life's in progress,
now that I confess,
now I'm going to try something new, and give it a whirl.
Ain't life grand? 06/14/2002 Author's Note: This poem is actually a joke, believe it or not. In my Junior English class in High School, we were given an assignment to make up rhymes, but the catch was, you could only see one sentence at a time, from the previous person, and rhyme it, then make your own. The resulting 'poem' turned out to be quite bit more than the teacher expected. Some of the lines in this poem were from that original work. Don't bother looking for my contribution from the original poem, it isn't here, but I added more, plus put some of the better stanzas in instead.
