Looking for Something More (Swallowing my children doesn't prove

by Chris D Lavigne

I'm too afraid of love without a purpose
and I still can't find a purpose here
For I'm trying to understand what goes through your mind to make you think that swallowing my children proves your love to me
And that you can't sense I'm concerned
when I wake up next to you in the morning and you already have a smile on your face before you turn over to look at me with seemingly slide projector eyes
Where I swear every time you blink
you replace my face
Could you consider that maybe I'm looking for something a little more
...
So desensitized have you become
that it's only the touch that matters
and not how, when, or why
Do you need to feel the blizzard hitting you in the face just to know it's snowing
Until your face becomes weathered and raw
Your lips become chapped, they crack
and blood trickles down to the tip of your tongue just enough to taste life
...
But is it yours
or the one you feel cast in stone upon you by those of your past
...Well I'm not your past!
Although I wish I could have been there to help you learn...
"That it's time to turn the page
When you're only wet
Because of the rain"(*)
Well maybe you should let that rain come down in hopes of washing away the thoughts of what you think I want and what you think you need
For I know that when the rain falls upon you
you trace the path it follows with the thought of my tongue
But I'm looking for something with a little more depth than what you're showing me
And if you can't resist that urge to swallow
I have offered you my soul
...
It may not be much,
but I'm only asking for a little more
