Today I got a
flower pot a'
made of terra cotta
and planted in it a lot of
lilies and one forget-me-not, a
gift for Carlotta

She's my mother, my father
My good, old Carlotta
She read me Beatrix Potter
like I was her daughter
even though I was not a
bit related to her, my Carlotta

My heart is a hope-chest of love for Carlotta
more cherished than pain to demented de Sade
I painted her El Dorado
Contrapasto, Sfumato
for her devotion and bravado
