A Broken Halo

by Jersey D Gibson

I didn't mean what I said,
I didn't mean to hurt you.
I thought things were different,
I thought I wouldn't be the same.

I'm not so pure,
I'm not so true.

Now it's time to sit and sulk,
I try to make up for what I said.
Now I'm alone and broken, too,
grief-stricken and by ourselves.

I'm not so pure,
I'm not so true.
A broken halo goes around my head.

I'm not so good,
and now I'm blue.
I wish I could take back what I said.

They say misery loves company,
and the only company I want is you.
With my foot in my mouth and an apology,
like a love-stricken puppy, I come.

I'm not so pure,
I'm not so true.
A broken halo goes around my head.

I'm not so good,
and now I'm blue.
now it feels like my heart is dead.

I'm am a fool,
I'm not with you.
And I hope that I don't have to say goodbye.

Wish I could hear the music that accompanies these words...so sad. and so true.
