If only I by Scott Cadence
I can feel your look
on my shoulder
reminding me
of all the ways
to feel
alone with you
my mouth
a stumble
of voice,
amongst ruins
that stand
in the dark
breaths
that hang the silence
into pain,
Ignoring
this passionate mess
I am
In holding
those eyes
strangest to me
at attention,-
so spoken
by them-
to thrive
such aliveness
when we meet
If only I
could say,
so simply
as eyes do-
turn rough movement
into inviting gesture-
crystal blue waters
never mentioning change,-
if only I
could reach
as deeply
as they do-
for you.
