feeding poison to angels

by Olivia Weinkein

lets paint this deep red
-this late night need
hunger (are you starving yet)
he was but we put out that fire
(hungrier than before)
and they swore i could be broken
but i can only be bent at the knees

and she's still living in wishing wells
and i wish i was there with her
little girl you're more together
than i can ever hope to be
keep the penny
i dont need it anyway

and cold little hands push me back to
reality guessing what color his eyes will
change to
5 minutes to midnight and to think he's
gonna grow up to be
(he's gonna grow up)
one of us
i hope he has your love
laughter
loyalty
goodness
and
my eyes
but he's not mine
never mine
and i will eventually walk away
lessons have more of an impact
like that

poison personified
intensified
by the purity of you

This is very powerful. I enjoy the way you phrase your words.
