sipping coffee on a warm night by Gary Hoffmannsipping coffee on a warm night
and looking across an old wodden table
that matches your eyes
maybe I just want to be inspired by you
by that gentle after talking for hours
broken by further coffee sips and
long comfortable silences of merely
listening to starlight falling kiss
by that hydrogen swimming light hidden just
behind your irises and sings shyly
through angel falling snow in blue painted spring
by that soft streetlight haze of fog
and starlight as we walk lonely together
down streets abandoned to dreams
and the ashes of a distant, forgotten memory
but instead we stare awkwardly
at countless nothings just to avoid
meeting the gaze we both
want desperately to drown in
and instead we spend eternities
thinking of something to say
that won't say what we really want it to
dancing endlessly around each other
twin suns forever reaching out
never touching never kissing merely
dancing around in not-quite-embrace
looking down at an old wodden table in heaven
at a half-empty cup of cold coffee
