poem about why I don't have to write poems about you even though by Betania TeschI don't have to write poems about you
because the time spent
with you on my mind
is so poetic, that it speaks for itself.
I don't need
to write lyrics for the song
that is the idea of you
for every moment you live
has a word
and every word was once a poem
all on it's own.
Moments spent with you
are poetry and paintings and interpretive dance
so I don't have to write poems about you
but I do.
And I do because I want you to know
that so many poems exist in your shadow,
under your footsteps,
in the aftermath of the thought of you,
and you run over me like a hurricane
leaving me with poetry strewn in the treetops and torn from the sides of houses.
I write poetry about you because you leave poetry everywhere and I like to make collages. 04/14/2002 Posted on 04/14/2002 Copyright © 2024 Betania Tesch
