Blue Trees

by Richard Vince

Today the sky is grey,
But the trees on the horizon
Are blue, so they somewhat
Make up for it. Anyway
The smoke drifting across
The world removes the colours.

Occasionally the Sun puts in
A brief appearance, and
The clouds part for a moment.

And I sit here and realise
That the sky portrays
My life...usually full of clouds
But with sneaky sunny spells
Every so often.

Recently the Sun appeared,
But the clouds did not
Stay away very long.
There is still a glow
Behind them though,
As if the Sun has not
Gone too far, and may
Smile on me again soon.

However, I fail to see
Where those blue trees
Come in to all of this.
Perhaps they remind me
That sometimes things look
Strange in cloudy conditions.

Maybe I am reading
Too much into the sky.
Or perhaps I look at it
Too much, as I have
Always thought I did.

Sometimes the colours are
Too beautiful to ignore though,
So I will continue to
Admire them from a distance.

A time may come when
I tire of the sky, and
How true to my life it is,
But the sky will always
Mirror my life as
My eyes will always
Mirror the sky.

Nonetheless, something tells me
That I may never see
Blue trees again.

Always thought I did.
better too much rather than not enough. as long as you don't keep tripping over your own two feet because of it.
