a sister's comfort

by Rachelle Howe

let the f e a r and
the a c h e
roll off your shoulders
like water.
hide in the sanctuary
of my warmth.

(i promise,
i'll keep the demons at bay)

the darkness comforts the weary,
the silence isn't as deafening
when shared.

(i promise, i'll carry the pain
for us both)

here, in the quiet,
don't hesitate to be yourself,
to be vulnerable...
the burden is far too great
for you to bear alone.

meet me half way,
sink into the haven;
don't be too scared to dream...
hush. you're safe now.

(i promise, the monsters can wait
'til morning.)

Ohhhhhh, so tender. I'm finally catching up to some of your earlier works. Really beautiful. ~ S
