coming close to the end
of another revolution-
dizzy with amusement
at the thought that the whole world
is spinning on its axis.

if i find the center
will my clouded vision clear?
if i find the navel
will i be able to form
an umbilical connection?

~ instead ~

constantly swallowing stones
like a bottom-dwelling fish
to aid in the digestion
of the kernels i must eat

all gills and stomach
my mind and soul
have been crushed
by deep ocean pressure
and the atoms dispersed
by centrifugal motion

all hope is ballast
my hopes and dreams
are sweet flesh
to be served cold and raw
for the profit margin
and enjoyment of others

i find that all the stones
i have swallowed
are weighing me down

i find eddies
and vortexes
but not convergence

dizzy with amusement
at the thought that the whole world
is spinning on its axis.

i must find the center
