Metaphor

by Melina Raven Maness Diebold

Strong, yet weak
In the mind you see
I am better
by farther than far
than any apparition
of justice
or injustice
Makes no difference
They are interchangeable
Buy me a drink and lock me up
Then go make love
to your little cheerleader
Put me to bed
with no coffee or tea
and read me a violent fable
Of kings and queens
and cops and robbers
and cowboys and indians
and a princess and a frog
I'll see the light
and dance upon your brow
screaming "More!" all the way
I'll tell you what you want to hear
The Money's all yours
you gluttonous pig
Take all the credit for yourself
But it's his pretty cake
and it's my pretty cake
which you gave no effort to bake
But you can eat it
And you can slice it
And give it to your sailors
and your commandoes
and your disgruntled employees
And leave us just the crumbs
and the dirty dishes
But one day
You'll see
that you are
By farther than far
Older than me
and I'll see the day
that'll you'll fail to awaken on
and carnivals and fairs
and galas galore
shall reign supreme
Unless your clones step up to bat
Tyranny begat mutiny
Mutiny begat Tyranny
and power is the cause of it all
