The clear blue sky

by Amy Niggel

In the light
of a clear blue morning
when the rain was falling
like snow
and the sun
could barely break the clouds
yet I could swear it was the sun
that woke me up.
Or maybe that was just you
shining like you always do
making me remember
the words 'I Love'
and wanting more than ever
to hear your voice
singing to me
though you couldn't carry a tune if it had a handle
and I want to remember you
the way you never were
the way I wanted you to be
before you changed
into some one I hated
The way we were when we were kids
though I never met you till we were 18 years old
and getting younger everyday
that is why
on this snowy
windy
rainy
miserable
day
I see the clear blue sky
that you painted for me
on the ceiling above my head
that I may remember
you loved me once
though you never loved me at all.
