Swept Away by Richard VinceWatching the clock as it changes
From one minute to the next
Reminds me of all the minutes
That just evaporated into the air
As we found ourselves intertwining,
Our lives becoming two threads
In the same pattern, dancing
Elegantly around the same point.
It was travelling without moving,
Like being beamed from the surface
Of the Earth high into
The celestial reaches of dreams
As if I was born to be among the stars.
But our hearts were blinded,
Their vision obscured by the clouds,
To the realities of ground level.
Our feet on different continents,
Our minds in different places,
Allowing us to be swept away
By the currents in the river
Into which we had plunged.
And now we are able to stop
And take a breath once again,
It all looks different without
The blurring, as the scenery
Sped past our glistening eyes.
So now, here we are,
Back on the surface of the planet again,
The soft mists of the dream
Rapidly dispersing as sight returns
And we get a clearer picture
Of who we really are.
Perhaps one day we will
Dream again, and our shining eyes
Will illuminate the wondrous sights
That greet our captivated gaze,
And we will be swept away once more. 04/02/2002 Posted on 04/02/2002 Copyright © 2024 Richard Vince
