The edge of the storm

by Patricia J Reed

Never saw it coming Rumbling Darkening skies Lightning striking I'm scared Somebody help It's overwhelming Where's the end I can't see it When my hands cover my face Weeping Quietly I am small A child Lost in a storm As rain turns to hail I never saw it coming

Wow... how that sometimes can happen huh. Sometimes we find ourselves all of a sudden in the middle of a situation just like that...out of nothing, suddenly drowned by it. Great poem!!

excellent poem about fear and the storms in life

Weather phenomenon can be a humbling experience and is sure to put everything in perspective as related to psychological and/or emotional turmoil. I love the subtle references here and the way your poem moves in and around the stresses of life. Congratulations on becoming Poet Of The Day. Peace...

Feel the tension and fear in this vivid account of a severe storm. Very effective understatement. Congratulations on POTD!

I liked it very much, but I feel that there could have been a few more lines between the last two. It seemed a rather abrupt ending, and the "peak experience" of the hailstones needs to be let down with a few more descending lines before the end. But, I did enjoy it, and wouldn't comment at all if I didn't. Best wishes, Ron
