The Dancers (villanelle)

by Jane E Pearce

When evening lights flicker low,
two phantom shadows dance
to love songs played long ago.

His arms around her waist,
they met it seems, by chance,
when evening lights flickered low.

The years welded them as one,
phantom hearts in a loving glance,
to love songs played long ago.

Two wedding bands that match,
worn in the ethereal prance,
when evening lights flicker low.

They come, as lovers
from Heaven's stance,
a deep Eternal bond to show,
when evening lights flicker low.
