In Daylight

by Kristine Briese

In this nearly perfect darkness
     I feel you
The velvet of a mouth that
     begs me in the moonlight
The crush of two arms that
     own me in the moonlight
And blue eyes that will not leave me
           eyes that cannot leave me
eyes that do not leave me
               in moonlight

In this nearly perfect darkness
     I see you
The curve of a mouth that will
     betray me in the daylight
The push of two arms that will
     discard me in the daylight
And blue eyes that will not love me
          eyes that cannot love me
eyes that do not love me
               in daylight

...and a sublime personification of 'night' and 'day'.
If I've failed to mention this so far, I simultaneously love and dread reading your stuff Kristine :)
