My Son Prefers Poems that Rhyme by Kristine BrieseHe wants them to be funny
and never, ever sad
And if they do not rhyme
he thinks they're very bad.
He likes them to have animals
the crazier the better
Like a polka-dotted albatross
or a purple Irish setter.
He hopes that they're disgusting
with oozing yellow goo
Or at least a little scary
with a spirit shouting BOO!
I've tried and tried to tell him
that free verse is okay
But he just laughs and tells me
to hush and go away.
So here's a rhyming poem
for Jordan to enjoy.
Now let me get back to business
you silly, silly boy! 03/26/2002 Posted on 03/26/2002 Copyright © 2024 Kristine Briese
