The Ripple Effect by Chris D LavigneAll this before me
never ending, always changing
Look in and picture the memory
touch the reflection and it breaks apart extending outward, particles dispersing
for what seems to be forever
knowing that where it was touched will forever become less
until it is gone
and the memory starts to fade
Return later and repeat
but it's never the same
there's always less to start with
Therefore is it worth it one asks
to constantly touch a good memory
to continually drain the emotions contained within
This process creates a double-edged sword
The benefit: after time, the ability to state that you are free of the hold it has over you
The cost: after time, the original emotion which captivated you in the beginning will be lost
...
So I go
crossing the sand
feeling as if it is trying to pull me under
over the rocks
which tear into me, causing me to bleed again
to reach the water
and let another part of me fade away 03/25/2002 Posted on 03/25/2002 Copyright © 2025 Chris D Lavigne
