One day
when I am far from here
when life has been sapped out of me
and returned
once again
to the Earth which lent it
when I look back
at the blue marble that is the earth
and study
with the heavenly scholars
the whole of mankind
from begining to end
maybe then I will understand
maybe then I will grasp
and when I watch from my vantage point
the deep blue earth fall into
our ever vain yellow sun
then in that moment
that final instant
before being
ceases
to be
just before
all of existence goes out like a candle left in a draft
I will look at the world
and cry out
"I get it"
and understand at last why it came to be that you and I were who we were when we were who we were so very long ago.
