Time will wait...

by Leandra K Brossard

Time will wait for us, my dear..
He is a patient soul..
He understood I was running late,
My watch, dusty and old.

Then I went back for my dignity,
And once I had begun,
I stayed true to my stated pace,
And did not mark the sun..

"I'll be just one more minute dear.."
Then Time flew racing by..
Three years later he paused again,
Chagrined, here, by my side.

This time he'll be good dear,
I made him promise now..
He'll wait for me 'til Kingdom Come,
Though he won't need to now.

Time will wait for us, my dear..
He promised to behave..
He'll save us our allotted time,
And pay us back in spades..

a strong hopeful poem, my favorite so far. I loved the chagrined...well done.
