Through the Window of my Soul (1)

by Lori I Wolfe

Deep within my sleep
I slipped through the window
From the center of my soul
Where the sea mist caresses my face
As my long auburn hair
Dances within the wind
White sails bellow above
As the sea rushes at my feet
Excitement fills my Inner Light
If only I had wings
I know I could take flight
I spread my arms
And swirl across the deck
Dreaming of a New World
A place where soon
My feet will plant themselves
Into the soil of a new life
The stars above sparkled with promise
They wink at me with laughter
As they guide us to our new home
The man on the moon
Watches with a smile
I dance with such joy
My father laughs at my excitement
He stands so tall upon the deck
With the great wheel within his grips
Steering us all to our New World
The crews all are relaxing
Singing their love songs
My brother blowing tunes
Through his harmonica
Mama calls my name
“Lora my love, it’s time to rest
A new day approaches
You want to greet it at your best.”
I hug the stars
Then kiss all a good night
I rush below and prepare for sleep
Can’t wait for first light
As blues turn to lavenders and pinks
Birds break the silence
And begin to sing
My eyes open as the window shuts
A tear of loss
Slips free and creeps down my face
I climb from bed
Then prepare for work
I walk through the day
Lost in this lonely place
