Looking In

by Anne Engelen

Standing at the side-line
An outsider looking in
This life doesn’t seem mine
I’m merely a stand-in

Playing this roll
Of a mom and a wife
Is taking it’s toll
I barely feel alive

Holding on to this part
Maybe not smart at all
Feels like destruction of my heart
I’m almost ready for the fall

So many come to feel unappreciated in the most important roles in the world. Truly relatable I understand.
