Resurrection

by Jane E Pearce

You had moved on,
and among your effects

I found your old Brownie camera-
a simple box affair,

with no complications,
so like things made in the'30s.

Inside, the film lay inert,
its treasures unopened.

The black and white pictures
displayed a young father,

and his small daughter,
smiling as if tomorrow meant forever.

Lacy shade and sunlight
dappled their faces,

and dated clothes.
You lived again, frozen in time,

resurrected by a God
in a photo lab.
