Never Kissed (a poetic response to

by Betania Tesch

I've never kissed you
unless you count
the endless times
I've touched a blade of grass
and given it your name
to make it sing
and then set it on the wind.
I've never touched you
unless you consider
that I touched my hands together
and imagined one was yours
interlocking fingers,
interwoven futures.
I've never promised you love
unless you consider
the countless occasions
on which I've given it to you
as my subsitute
for those kisses and touches
and destined looks
that are yet to come.
I've never been with you
but I am with you.

Oh wow...my soul is currently singing these exact sentiments, but you made them beautiful; thank you!
