The World Above The Clouds

by Anne Engelen

Pulling up the shades
of my airplane window
I discovered this whole new world
Looking like cotton ball mountains
covered with snow

A whole variety of landscapes
a magnificant view
Every cloud creating a home
for harbouring my thoughts of you

With mixed emotions,
I'm taking this trip
A farewell to the life I knew
I'm burrying every negative thought
in this cloudy world,
I need to start anew

The sun is heating up my window
almost burning my left arm
Right now I can relate to that
Outside freezing, but inside still warm

It's a tricky world, even up here
In my clouds white and blue
They look so inviting, peaceful and soft
But if you take a step outside
you would fall right through

So, I'm just leaving my past life up here
And pull some energy out of the sun
and this wonderful view
From now on I create a new atmosphere
A home for the love of me and you
