just so you know

by Mainon A Schwartz

And anyway I wonder if I know how to let you go
And if I can keep a resolve to do it
But at the same time I know I can't hold on
Like a leech or a lamprey
Desperately sucking away
And gorging myself on whatever love I can get
Like I don't know how long the food source will be around
This isn't a poem, just so you know
But maybe I'll be able to write one soon
I feel in that mood
Where fragmented sentences
Packed full of imagery
Speak more to me than lifeless strings of prose
And I hate periods
Maybe I don't want one to come to us
An ending
It means, "stop here"
Period
