Melting, part II: the ephemeral by Mainon A Schwartzi've already used all the words i know
for melting, so instead of that i'll
tell you that really i'm not melting,
i'm evaporating, spreading silvery red
into the depth of your lungs, breathe
me in, but never catch me, i'll cloud
your vision like the Madonna's holy
sightless eyes-- i can swear they look
at you and you bleed just like the rest
of us, but you don't have any words to
use either, so speechless like the face of
a mother, i shudder as all the blood
melts away, and i'll ask you once more
if you know the words to tell me
the truth, and who i really am. 02/26/2002 Posted on 02/26/2002 Copyright © 2025 Mainon A Schwartz
