More than Friends? by Amy NiggelWhen I feel your breath
on my face,
and your hand is resting
on my waist.
And you whisper
in my ear
that though everyone is leaving me
you'll still be here.
When I look to you
to find my strength
and realize
you take it away.
when all I dream of
is simply you
and the prospect of
my dreams come true.
And I look to the one
I know in the end
will not desert me
for we are friends.
I find myself
in disbelief
that friends is all
we are to be.
but I smile
and turn my face
so you won't see
this hidden place.
You hold my heart
you always have
and yet its us
we come to last.
but maybe someday
in the end
we'll see each other
as more than friends. 02/22/2002 Posted on 02/22/2002 Copyright © 2025 Amy Niggel
