Solitary

by John Harder

Do those eyes see
my aimless wandering?
Every day's a roller coaster
I don't know where I'm going

Don't pity my loneliness
if you see me on the street
I'm not a loser
if I eat out on my own

I need moments like these
to reflect, and ponder about
what's going on in life
To think about life

I enjoy my times alone
so don't befriend me
Just say hi
and leave me be

If you happen to hear me cry
don't try to comfort me
Why wipe away
the tears that joy bring

Let me sit at the water's edge
and watch the ducks swim by
I like to stare at the sky
and watch the jets leave smoke trails

I never knew loneliness
could feel this good
