Lifted

by Ulyss Rubey

My mother died a year ago,
Last night she set me free-
In pleasant dreams i saw her smile,
Here's what she said to me.

"Don't worry son, I am OK,
I know you did your best
To see me through my final days
Before I found my rest.

You know that I was ninety son,
It was my time to go-
We laughed and played and had our fun,
And loved each other so."

Thank you Mom, and thank God
For this uplifting dream-
And the lesson from you both,
Death isn't what it seems.

My final words to her was,
In tears as I awoke-
I love you- i love you- i love you Mom-
The last words that i spoke.
