Say farewell slowly
like April crawls
into summer,
or molasses pours
from a bottle,
speak yet of roses,
and sunsets, wearing
your old gold baubles
that jingle
to a halted stride.
Sport the bright red
lipstick, painted on
in careless strokes
to accentuate the smile
that says"I'm not ready yet."
