Would Your Arms Be Open? by Lori I WolfeHe stood just outside the doorway
to a graveyard of memories
captured by lost emotions
swimming in a sea of tears and pain
scared from all their throwing stains
Standing at the window of faith
clinging to her bleeding heart
the winds of dreams blowing away
they stood there watching it all fall apart
"If I ran to you...
would your arms be open?
If I kissed you...
would you choke?
If I wanted you...
would you push me away?
If I loved you...
would you ask me to stay?"
The bells where ringing in the distance
that distant wishing star above
all in white she was an angel
in a runway she floats towards love
Standing before her at the alter
was of a dream she had prayed
into a world of the unknown
spreading her wings so she could fly
into the arms of her sweet lover
"Will you take me into the sky?"
"If I ran to you...
would your arms be open?
If I kissed you...
would you choke?
If I wanted you...
would you push me away?
If I loved you...
would you ask me to stay?"
As they soared into their future
things just aren't what they seemed
chasing rainbows and everafters
finding dark instead of day
why do they scream at each other this way?
Now crashing up to the surface
swimming desperately up stream
separating in all the currents
killing all their hopes and dreams
"If I ran to you...
would your arms be open?
If I kissed you...
would you choke?
If I wanted you...
would you push me away?
If I loved you...
would you ask me to stay?" 02/07/2002 Posted on 02/07/2002 Copyright © 2025 Lori I Wolfe
