In My Nephew's Eyes

by Ryan M Evon

In My Nephew's Eyes
Stands a bright blue
And little bits of silver

In My Nephew's Eyes
Youth runs wild unchained
By age, energetic and free

In My Nephew's Eyes
An eerie resemblance
Reminds me of my childhood

In My Nephew's Eyes
There is no hate or
Worry. His mind is unfogged

In My Nephew's Eyes
Dwells no pain and I scorn
The day it comes and whoever puts it there

In My Nephew's Eyes
A tear wells up as his
Pouty lip sticks out in a fit

In My Nephew's Eyes
Shines a bright potential
That I hope to guide

In My Nephew's Eyes
I see my own
Not yet faded by days and pain

In My Nephew's Eyes
The world is new and holds
So much for him to learn

In My Nephew's Eyes
There is no fear
Because I will guard him

In My Nephew's Eyes
Innocence shines through
In all he has yet to learn

In My Nephew's Eyes
His mother stands out
And I miss being her brother

In My Nephew's Eyes
Love is true, forever
And his uncle loves him
