I will admit,
as readily as any
that I am dumb,
but not for the reasons they cite,
I am dumb for many reasons indeed,
I am however rarely unintelligent.
I am dumb,
because I let my mother undermine my self confidence,
I am dumb because I let others get to me,
make me cry,
call me mean and cynical,
I am dumb because I do not tell people when my feelings have been hurt.
I am dumb because I can't say
'I love you'
nor tell him how I feel.
I am dumb because I don't believe
when people tell me what I am worth,
I am dumb for all these reasons yes,
but I have a great mind,
filled to overbrimming with thoughts and love,
and I am intelligent indeed!
