Keep On Rockin' In The Free World

by Jersey D Gibson

There are colors on the street,
red, white, and blue.
People shuffling their feet,
people sleeping in their shoes.
There's one sign, in the road ahead.
People are saying they be better off there.
No sleeze, or bad dreams, or drugs over there.
So I'm gonna get there anyway I can.

Keep on rockin' in the free world.

I see a girl of the night,
with a baby in her hand.
Under an old street light,
near a garbage can.
She hates her life, and that's why she's there.
She's gonna get ahead anyway she can.
That's one more kid, that will never go to school.
Never learn the golden rule, never get to be cool.

Keep on rockin' in the free world.

There's a thousand points of light,
for the homeless man.
There's a kinder, gentler shelter there.
There's the porn stars, and toilet paper.
Styrofoam cups for the o-zone layer.
There's a van out there, says 'People Alive!'.
Got fuel to burn, got roads to drive.

Keep on rockin' in the free world.
