Tears of the Sea

by Lori I Wolfe

The sun was low with a cool gentle breeze
I looked at you and that's when you looked at me

The sea rises as the tide rolls in
standing at the edge of the earth
thinking of what might have been

You walked over and asked me to dance ...
my smile fades as I remember you then
not like now ... you won't even spare me a glance

The sea rages at the end of the earth
I stare into the watery crystals that glitter from the sun
Wishing that our love could never have been undone

You smiled down upon my face
as the cries of our daughter filled the empty space
Now the cries are silent all that is left is our fears
as God came down and filled me with tears

The sea is a new world unlike this place
it's cold and hungry, it stares up in my face
I look up and above me now
looking away from the sea

I look at into your hateful eyes, you wishing it was me
I lost my angel and now I have lost you too
Pain fills me until I can not breathe
it chokes me ... smothers me ... until I can not see

The sea calls ... it invites me now
I step forward to a place where you can not follow
it's a place that's cold and hollow
I step forward to the edge of the earth

I feel the force of your shoving me down
I hear the engine's monsteress roar
just after you slammed the door

As the sea swallows me hole
I feel the darkness all around
my lungs burn as the salt water rushes in
I hear laughter ... joy ... sadness ... tears
I hear silence ... I hear ...
