Bitterness

by Leandra K Brossard

As the world turns swiftly by,
I turn my head and softly cry,
Drowning in my misery.
My tears do not displace the sea
I tried to understand and found
My dream’s poor vessel run aground.

I woke to seek a better place
And only saw this bitter place
I try to feel my solemn way
And find I have no words to say
Why I am here or where I am
I do not really understand.

My cries make shrapnel as they crash
Against this building’s walls of glass
My heart it withers as I cry
This pain and anguish to the sky
And all my hope was torn again
As I slowly watched the end.
