Back in town

by Aaron Howard

I walked into the door and our eyes met at once.
Her smile walked it's way out of the room.
I laughed at the expression on her face.
I thought things had died down... I was wrong.
but then again, where'd be the point of this song?
She walked out of the room in a emotional basket.
but then again, I thought it would go worse.
She thought things would have died and buried itself.
but who's to know? Things might just be that mischievous.
I thought things might have died down... I was wrong.
but then again, isn't it the same old song?
I sat around and waited for her ill casing return.
but you know, you never know until you stand in that place.
I thought things might be happier in the wasteland.
but then again, nothing happens as I planned.
I thought of things I should have said, but passed in glee,
just so you could think you were seeing the happy side of me.
Dreams of you haunted me in my nightmares for years.
but then again, I guess love is just one of my fears.
