Mothers Love

by Adrian Calhoun

From the heart it pours,
a never ending abundance,
like a river reaching to embrace the sea.
It flows and is given freely,
never in question or doubt.
No matter the wrong done,
the stupid conflicts that happen,
she never retracts it or withdraws.
Her voice not always sweet,
hand not always gentle,
but I deserved every word and spanking.

A mothers love is pure,
it IS forever !
No other can ever take its place.
Love so great,
it bridges all gaps and heals all wounds,
stands the test of time where others fail.

She gave us six children life,
unconditional love,
and hugs when we needed them.
The debt we owe her can never be repaid.

Somehow I don't think she wanted
payment from us.
Only to be loved in return.
