The gift of friendship by Anne Howe
Friendship is the meeting of two minds
The uncanny ability to 'read' each others thoughts
And to anticipate the end of
But not complete, their sentences
Friendship is the feeling of loss
Which ensues when circumstances force people apart
It is reading a note which just says 'hi'
And knowing that it isn't because the person can't spare time
But has made time
Friendship is when the cost of a phone call
Isn't too much
And the other's appreciation
That the conversation must be brief
Friendship can span generations
And nations
It is love, trust and caring
Laughter and sharing
Friendship is a gift
Wrapped in personality
Tied with a bow of sincerity
And given without reservation
