He hates my mirror

by Vikki Owens

He hates my mirror
and the way
I stand in front of it.
Its silver backing
stabbing
me,
cutting me
in places
that he is trying
to suture.

He says:

You are like a ballarina
doll
turning in front of
a fun house mirror..
why do this to yourself?

But still I strip away
my clothing
and stand for
the
mirror's observation.
