It Hurts To Love You

by Holly H Dunne

you make me rain until there's drought
and i could shelter under an umbrella
but instead, each time, i allow myself to drown
i catch each bitter drop and hold it
as it corrodes my fingers

yuo drain my strength
and i could put you down and rest
but instead, each time, i allow myself to be strained
i struggle to hold you up
as my muscles begin to ache

you suck me dry
and i could quench my thirst elsewhere
but instead, each time, i let myself be parched
i ignore fountains of water
as i slowly die of thirst

i love you now and for always
but it hurts to love you.
