Happiness

by Richard Vince

Somehow you always make me smile
A deep, warm smile that I can feel
Melting the frost that has
Been accumulating on my skin
And within me for days.

I'm glad I seem to return the favour.

At least, I hope I do.
You might remember something
I said once. That I would love
To dedicate my life to making you happy.
Well, I'm glad you have
Someone to do that for you now,
As I have someone else to cheer me up.

But I'll always want to
Make you smile, and
I can't see me not writing
The odd poem about you, now and then.

One day, maybe I will
Write you a song,
And you'll get to hear it.

For now though,
I'm writing you this
Because you'll probably get to read it.
Hopefully, it will give you
Some idea of how much I love you,
And how special you are to me.

Now, I really cannot imagine
My life without you.
