Two Worlds of Humans

by Ronald A Pavellas

Pity the unfortunate introvert
Who wants merely to be left alone
As others pull and tug for his attention
Draining his dwindling store of energy

Pity the unfortunate extravert
Who wants to be with people
To recharge her psychic strength
But finds no such company and wanders frustratedly

Could these two, if met, be lovers, mates?
It seems not, being polar opposites
In the vital matters of how
Their energies are gained and lost

But, there are more extraverts than introverts, perhaps by three times
Three social beings tugging at each loner
And few potential companions who are content
To sit silently by his side

So, I pity the unfortunate introvert
More than the unfortunate extravert who,
By mere chance alone,
Is better able to find a compatible someone

Here is a world of depleting loners
And of replenishing socializers
Seeming of different species
Each not understanding the other

Two worlds of humans
