I heard sublime music,
And tears appeared.
Why these tears?

I heard a story of great daring, bravery and success,
I saw actors depicting a great love gained and lost,
And tears appeared.
Why these tears?

I saw the union of two people who love each other,
I learned of a great tragedy,
I was present at the birth of a child,
And tears appeared.
Why these tears?

I used to hide my tears.
I was afraid -- of what?
Others also hid their tears -- why?

I pondered these questions, and
With the passage of years,
I came to accept my tears.

I can laugh with tears.
I can dance with tears.
I can exult with tears.
I can love with tears.

I believe my soul reveals itself
Through my tears.
